    Overview

    University of Miami Information Technology (UMIT) provides research faculty with access to various data analysis, visualization, and management systems. This includes:

    • ArcGIS: Capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present data for geodatabase management applications.
    • GraphPad Prism: A scientific 2D graphing and statistical software specifically formatted for the analysis of quantitative and categorical data.
    • Maple: Combines a powerful mathematical computation engine with an intuitive, "clickable" user interface.
    • MATLAB: High-level language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization, and programming.
    • Minitab: A statistics package used for data and file management.
    • NVivo: A qualitative data analysis software package that works with very rich text-based and/or multimedia information, where deep levels of analysis on small or large volumes of data are required.
    • PyMOL: An open source 3D molecular visualization software that allows scientists to view, share, and analyze their molecular data as images or videos.
    • SAS: An integrated system of software products which enables programmers to perform information retrieval, data management, and much more.
    • SAS JMP: A product of the SAS institute that is used for quality control, simple and complex statistical analysis, and data visualization.
    • SPSS: A comprehensive statistical software program.

    Overview

    University of Miami Information Technology (UMIT) works with University academic and administrative departments to provide campus-wide and volume licensing agreements for commonly used software programs and applications. Commonly accessed software include:

    • Listserv: Distribute email to a group of subscribers (e.g., electronic mailing lists).
    • Microsoft Forms: Enables you to quickly and easily create basic surveys, questionnaires, and more.
    • Microsoft PowerBI: A cloud-based business analytics service that enables anyone to visualize and analyze data.
    • Qualtrics: Create and distribute online surveys.
    • Zoom: A video conferencing tool that combines an easy-to-use interface with exceptional video quality.
